At the Law Offices of J Pete Laney we pride ourselves on common sense, committed, and experienced legal representation. The Firm handles a broad range of legal matters ranging from administrative law, personal injury, consumer, and commercial litigation, to legislative and governmental relations.
We represent individuals and businesses licensed or regulated by the state. We represent clients from the beginning of the agency investigation, through the hearing process, and appeal if necessary. Through the legislative and governmental relations practice, we represent individuals, businesses, and associations throughout the legislative and rule making process. J Pete Laney has had the privilege of being around politics his entire life, which has given him a unique insight into the process. Building on his knowledge of the process, Mr. Laney has been involved in drafting major pieces of legislation.
Mr. Laney's experience includes litigating multimillion dollar cases involving businesses and individuals, to smaller cases worth a few thousand dollars. Our commercial litigation and personal injury practice, like our Administrative Law practice, is rooted in our belief that every case, no matter how big or how small is just as important to the client. Whether representing a Fortune 500 company, a mom and pop business, or an individual, we treat every client and every case the same.
The Firm's founder, J Pete Laney is a fifth generation Texan who grew up on a farm and ranch in the small town of Hale Center, Texas. Prior to starting his own firm, Mr. Laney was a partner in the law firm of Hull Henricks & MacRae, LLP, in Austin, Texas. He has represented Fortune 500 Companies, small businesses, and individuals, as Plaintiffs and Defendants in Federal and State Courts throughout Texas.
Mr. Laney graduated from Texas Tech University, Lubbock, with a B.S. in Agriculture Communications. He received his law degree from Baylor University School of Law, with a concentration in general civil litigation and was a member of the Order of Barristers.
Mr. Laney has been a guest speaker at Baylor University School of Law and the University of Texas School of Law. He has also been a speaker at that the State Bar of Texas Advanced Administrative Law CLE.
Mr. Laney is a member of the Travis County Bar, State Bar of Texas, and the Austin Young Lawyers Association. Mr. Laney is admitted to practice in Federal Court in the Western and Eastern Districts of Texas.
